Towards the end of our vacation we took a day to visit the Grand Canyon. We drove back towards Vegas where we had booked a
Papillon helicopter tour that was AMAZING! We had the coolest pilot and neither of us had ever been in a helicopter before so it was
sooooooo awesome! The tour took us over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam, through the canyon, along the Colorado River, and landed down in the basin where we got out for a short pontoon boat ride down the river. I got some pictures of canyon birds, chipmunks, flowers, and cactus before we hopped back into the chopper for a super cool ride along the canyon walls up to the West Rim where we got to see Eagle Point and
Guana Point as well as go out on the "
skywalk" (a clear bottom platform that extends out over the edge of the canyon so you can see down below you- so cool!). Then we flew back to the airport just as the sun was beginning to set so the sky was beautiful! An amazing tour and we are
sooooooo glad we did it!
