Turkey Days

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This year, Damien and I had two turkey days- the first was Wednesday night at my mom's with her and my brothers as she had to work the next night up at Colonial Williamsburg. The second was Thursday night at D's mom's with her, his stepdad Alan and his sister Kendal. Both were fun and delicious and I forgot my camera for most of them too! :( I did remember to take a few pictures Wednesday night, but it was after D had already left to meet up with some buddies.

It's starting to feel all holiday-y. I'm usually not one to get all excited for the holidays- all that pressure for gifts usually brings out the scrooge in me, but this year we've already told our folks "no presents for us" which helps relieve a lot of pressure! The day after thanksgiving, I even busted out the xmas tree and got the apartment all decorated. And my grandparents are hoping to come visit in a few weeks so I'm definitely looking forward to that!!

Hope you all are doing great!!

And now, picture time...

Election Day Excitement!

Since I turned 18, I haven't missed an election- I love voting and I've tended to be pretty interested in and educated about the candidates I vote for, but I certainly don't remember a voting day that was so fun and exciting!!

This campaign season has been so charged and it's thrilling to see so many more people actually participate this time! I'm a super strong Obama supporter and am so glad this day finally got here so we can end the speculation and at last know who will win and lead us for the next four years!

What's more exciting is that Virginia is such a battleground state- I'm so glad I was here to participate! I didn't get to go to any rallies- the lines were just too long! But I did get out to the polls early this morning with my hubby and then spent the rest of the day hanging out with my best friend and her girls as she went to vote, and then we all went out and took advantage of all the offers of free drinks and food if you showed you voted- awesome!!!

I hope everyone got out there voted for their candidate too! Let's hope this enthusiasm and interest in our government continues on tomorrow and in the future!!

Polls opened at 6am & D and I got to our location at 6:10am ready to "Barack" the vote!
It was about a 90 minute wait to get in to vote and was rainy for most of the wait, but everyone was in good spirits and it wasn't too cold either.

Damien leaving the polls after completing his civic duty!

A few hours later, I met up with Ky and her girls and went with her to her poll location to vote. The girls were super excited to get to help vote!

The girls got stickers for "voting" with Ky!

Then it was off to the vendors for free stuff for voting!
First stop: Starbucks! Free coffee for anyone who voted!

Stop Number Two: Krispy Kreme!!
Free star shaped and sprinkled doughnuts for voters!

In Krispy Kreme you get to watch them making the doughnuts...

Final Stop: Ben & Jerry's for a free ice cream!
Damien joined me and we met up with Ky, John, the girls and Ky's mom and brother to enjoy a yummy end to a delicious election day!

Yay for voting!!!

So now we wait for the polls to close and the results to be tallied... I hope everyone else had a great day too & that you took full advantage of your right to vote!!

Happy Election Day 2008!
