It was a tough course and took us about an hour to complete. Fortunately, although it was hot, it wasn't too hot, and we finished together as a team- Dad, Debra, Ky, Me, and Dad's friend Emmit. Maybe next year we'll cut down on our time and win a medal?
And now a play-by-play and some pictures of this crazy, insane military-style boot-camp tribulation race...
We started off the race by having one member look in a paper bag filled with five items. That person had 10-seconds to remember the items and come back and tell us so we could all try to remember and repeat them at the end.
We then had to run down a ditch that had been muddied up by a 3-wheeler the day before and then flooded with water... we had to hop over all the logs and go under one
And the team is off and running! Yay!!

We then headed over to this site where we had to crawl under these ropes that got lower and lower to the ground
I swear, it didn't feel like my butt was that far up in the air! :)
After crawling under the ropes we ran over to a stack of logs. We picked up one as a team and had to run a lap around the field, with everyone helping to carry it, before dropping it back off at the pile
(sorry, no picture here!)
After dropping the log, we ran diagonally across the field to the sand pit, where we each had to fill up a sandbag and carry it as we ran (which turned into more walk than run) 1/4 mile down the road and back
Filling up the sandbags!
After running with the sandbag and dropping it back off at the pit, we had to complete 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups as a team, which worked out to about 20 each
1-2-15-16-20! Workin' our abs and arms...
With our push-ups and sit-ups complete, we crossed the street and had to crawl through 3 rows of 3 tunnels- you'd think this wouldn't be so bad, except those black tunnels were really small- the girls could crawl on hands and knees, but the guys had to kind of shimmy through- exhausting!
Slooooowly walking across the street after those tunnels...
We then crossed the street again to the front yard of the church- we were supposed to carry one member of the team in a blanket across the yard, but the blankets didn't show up, so instead it turned into a crab walk across the lawn. OMG! this was hard!! I was about dead at this point and couldn't hardly get my butt of the ground, so it was really more of a backwards slide/scoot than a crab walk
Thankfully, Ky was kicking butt the whole race and was pretty far ahead- so after resting a bit, she was able to tap in for me and finish the second half of my crab walk- what an AMAZING BEST FRIEND!!!!
Here are Ky and Debra crab walking like champs!
After the crab walk fiasco, we ran across the parking lot to the ditch and ran down the ditch of mud again- this time we just had to go over all the logs (none under), followed the ditch around the edge f the parking lot and crawled under two small foot bridges and finished (all members together) at the end of the ditch
Here is our team nearing the end of the ditch!
The final task was to remember all 5 items that had been in the bag at the start of the race- and we did! (In case you're interested: a reel, a compass, an orange thingy that I don't remember what it was, a ball counter, and a dryer hose connector- such total guy items!)
Race Completed!
Emmit, Dad, Me, Kylene, & Debra
I had to show off my diesel 8-year old sister- Here she is doing her one-armed push ups again so I could tape it :) Love it!
So yeah... It was a totally crazy race- My arms are pretty sore today- but amazingly, I'm not in that much pain- plus, it was a total motivator to really keep up the working out so I can be as awesome as Ky next year! :) And a big thanks to Ky's hubby John, who watched the kiddos during the race, and to her mom and dad (a retired NAVY Seal- no pressure! haha) who came out to cheer us on!
I cannot wait for girl's night next weekend- a big ole glass of wine has my name on it!!
