Fremont St was really cool- it's basically about 3 blocks long with a covered pavilion over the street and vendors set up all along the casinos and restaurants. When we first got there it was still in the afternoon so it was much quieter than at night, but one vendor booth really caught my eye. It was like graffiti art- these guys set up a canvas on a rotating easel and they quickly (VERY VERY QUICKLY) create scenes by spray painting it it- they layer the paint and use different techniques and create skylines, scenes of the vegas strip, pictures of planets and nature scenes with animals- it was amazing to watch. Within 5-7 minutes a piece of art is complete and it dries within 12 minutes. I took a video clip of it below- it was just hypnotizing to watch- I wish they did that down at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
We stayed at Fremont Street for a little bit and D checked out a casino recommended to him, Binion's, and loved it- the table buy ins were much much lower than on the strip and he played a bit of craps and poker before we decided to head back to the hotel and come back to Fremont Street that night when it was more lively. We took a nap and headed back that night. We were starving and D really wanted a nice steak dinner. I saw that Binion's actually had a nice place upstairs, so we checked it out and got there about 15 minutes before they closed. They still seated us and it was very very nice- definitely had a mobster/Soprano's feel to it and being practically the only one's there, we had the place to ourselves and a great view of the city from up top.
Afterwards we were both stuffed and slowly sauntered back down Fremont St- it was much more lively now and every few minutes or so music started blaring and a light show would play along the top of the pavilion ceiling down the street. Sadly, I ate way too much at dinner and all I wanted to do afterwards was go back to the hotel and lay down. D was a champ and after walking around a little bit we rode the duece back to the hotel and passed out early. (I'm old!)
The buffet at TI- delish!
